The 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Softball Team has been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Anna Strien, a 2014 graduate of Waterloo Columbus High School, was one of 12 athletes selected Academic All-District® from District 8. District 8 is comprised of 20 states (Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming) and Canada.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
Strien, a junior short stop for nationally ranked No. 3 Luther College, has helped lead the Norse to the regular season Iowa Conference championship and an overall record of 37-3. In the most recent NCAA III statistics released April 30, 2017, Strien is ranked second in RBI (61), third in batting average (.554) and seventh for slugging percentage (.920).
Strien is a Political Science major who has accumulated a grade point average of 3.70. She is the daughter of Todd Strien of Williamston, Michigan.
