The 2013 Capital One Division III Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), has been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One became the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs in 2011.
Shari Huber, a 2009 graduate of North Scott High School, and Becca Girvan, a 2010 graduate of Osseo High School, have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII First-Team. This is the second time Huber has been so honored and the first for Girvan.
The Capital One Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2011-12 DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Both Huber and Girvan were both 2012 NFCA All-American’s last year. Huber has started every game for the Norse in center field and is batting a team best .385 with 27 RBI from the leadoff position. Defensively, she has been credited with 32 putouts and one assist. Girvan has posted a record of 15-5 in the pitching circle, striking out 156 batters in 131 innings of work, en route to an ERA of 2.94.
Huber is a physical education major who has a grade point average of 3.94. She is the daughter of Barry and Lisa Huber of Eldridge, Iowa.
Girvan is an Economics, Mathematics and Statistics triple major that has a grade point average of 3.61. She is the daughter of Dan and Gwen Girvan of Maple Grove, Minn.
