Erin, a biology major, used her summer vacation to volunteer with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

“I basically helped people with lung problems do exercises and physical therapy to get better” she says. “It opened up a whole new range of career possibilities that I didn't even know existed.”

The position provided great practical experience and helped reinforce her career intentions of becoming a physical therapist.

“Being around the patients, seeing them improve, and become so much happier was such a rewarding experience. It made me realize that helping them with that process was something I would love to do in the future.”
