The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced that Luther cross country student-athletes Jayne Cole, Maggie Pierson, Tricia Serres and Christina Storlie have earned 2012 Division III All-Academic Cross Country status.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater through the most-recent semester and placed in the top-35 at the NCAA Regional Championships.
The foursome helped lead Luther to a third place finish at the NCAA Central Regional. The Norse also qualified for the NCAA III National Championships as a team for the third consecutive year and 13th time in school history.
Tricia Serres, who became Luther's first freshman to earn All-America honors at the national championships, led the Norse at the Central Regional with a ninth place finish. She was followed by Christina Storlie who was 15th, Jayne Cole who was 26th and Maggie Pierson who was 33rd. A total of 187 runners competed at the Central Regional.
These four were among the list of 201 student-athletes that represented 104 institutions that earned this honor.
