The NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee has announced that Luther was selected as an at-large bid for the NCAA III National Cross Country Championships.
Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in the national finale. The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 16 teams. Sixteen additional teams were selected at-large. Complete list of qualifying teams
Luther was one of three at-large selections from the Central Region that was held Saturday, Nov. 10 at St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn. The Norse placed third with a team total of 121 points. Wartburg College (72) and St. Olaf College (95) earned the automatic bids placing first and second respectively. Carleton College (136) and Gustavus Adolphus College (136) that tied for fourth, were the other two teams that received at-large bids.
Luther will be making its 13th appearance, third in a row, and sixth under the direction of associate Head Coach Yarrow Pasche.
Fifty-six individuals, the first seven athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were also selected to participate in each championship.
The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will host the National Championships Nov. 17, at the LaVern Gibson Course in Terre Haute, Ind. The men’s race will begin at 11 a.m. ET followed by the women’s race at noon ET. (Championship Website)
