The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced that 170 student-athletes representing 82 institutions have earned 2010 Division III All-Academic Cross Country status. Luther and Calvin led the country with six representatives on the list apiece.
To qualify for this honor, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater through the most recent semester and placed in the top-35 at the NCAA III Regional Championships.
Luther six student-athletes and where they placed at the Central Regional included Emma Spoon (6th), Ellie Neubauer (11th), Kim Horner (13th), Sarah Lundine (16th), Christina Storlie (22nd) and Kayla Uphoff (23rd). One hundred and eight-six runners representing 27 schools participated at the regional meet.
During the 2010 season, Luther captured a league record 12th Iowa Conference championship and also claimed the Central Regional title for the third time in school history. Luther's first place finished qualified the Norse for an 11th appearance, fourth in the last five years, at the NCAA III National Championships where the Norse finished sixth.
