Full court pressure for 40 minutes with subs entering the game every two minutes, was the pace of the game as North Central posted a 94-77 victory over Luther tonight in the Regents Center.
The Cardinals pressured defensively all over the floor, forcing the Norse into 37 turnovers. The Cardinals also shot 40 three-pointers, 10 shy of their game average, connecting on 17. North Central also committed 21 fouls sending the Norse to the free throw line 22 times.
Trailing 51-37 at halftime, the Norse made some nice halftime adjustments and handled the pressure and the pace much better in the second frame, but the 14-point deficit proved to much to overcome.
Nelle Nelson led all scorers with a career high 22 points. Nelson was 8-of-14 from the field and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe. She also collected 15 rebounds, posting her third double-double in as many games.
Taylor Johnson also reached double digits with 13 and Logan Hjerleid was one shy with nine.
The loss drops Luther's overall record to 4-2. North Central won its third in a row and is now 4-2.
The Norse will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 1 when they will host Viterbo University at 2:00 p.m.
