Luther improved to 2-0 after defeating Bethany Lutheran (0-2) 87-71 this afternoon in Mount Vernon. Today's game was the fourth and final of the Cornell College Tournament.
Luther shot 52.5 percent from the field and nearly 80 percent from the charity stripe, while holding Bethany Lutheran to 36 percent. Luther also held a 40-32 advantage in rebounds.
Four Norse tallied double figures led by Taylor Johnson's career high of 31 points. Johnson also recorded her second double-double in as many nights collecting 12 rebounds. Meagan Koepnick, who also dished out a game high six assists, was next with 15 points. Rachel Stenhaug and Nellie Nelson each chipped in 13 and 10 respectively.
The Vikings were led by Jade Pelzl who conncected on 6-of-14 attempts from behind the three-point line en route to 29 points.
Luther returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 20 when it will travel to UW-Platteville for a game that is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
