The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) has announced that Luther College junior forward Claire Marburger (Perry, Iowa) has been named the Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018.
Marburger averaged 29 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field and 95 percent from the charity stripe. She led the Norse with 22 points against Simpson College and posted a career high 32 against Nebraska Wesleyan University. She also grabbed a career best 15 rebounds and set a single game school record connecting on 20-of-20 free throw attempts, during the NWU victory. She broke the old mark of 18 free throws made in a single game set in 1989 and 2011.
In her first year in a Norse uniform, she is leading the team in points per game (17.6) and rebounds per game (7.5), while helping lead Luther to a record of 4-1 in the Iowa Conference, 10-6 overall.
