Taylor Johnson, a 2010 graduate of Logan High School, scored her 1,000th career point during Luther’s final home game on Saturday, Feb. 16. Johnson becomes the 11th player in Luther women’s basketball history to achieve this milestone.
Johnson, who entered the game against Wartburg College, needing 13 points to reach 1,000, scored a game high 27, scoring her 1,000th point four minutes into the second half. She also grabbed 12 rebounds recording her 12th double-double of the year. Earlier this year, Johnson scored a career high 33 points against Bethany Lutheran College Nov. 17 and grabbed a career high 20 rebounds against Howard Payne University (Texas) Dec. 20.
Johnson, who has helped lead Luther to the Iowa Conference Tournament for the first time in four years, has 410 points this season for a career total of 1,014. She has also been credited with 614 career rebounds and is one of three players in Norse history to have scored 1,000 points and collected over 600 rebounds.
Johnson is the daughter of Rich and Terri Johnson of La Crosse, Wis.
