The Luther women’s tennis team opened a busy day with an 8-1 victory against Simpson on Saturday, Sept. 29 in Decorah, Iowa. The Norse jumped out to a 3-0 lead in doubles and won five of the six singles matches, including four in straight sets, to give Luther its eight win of the season.
Cassandra Chalhoub and Lola White-Bar paired together for an (8-3) win over Tiffany Bost and Allison Anderson at No. 1 doubles while Katy Lindstrom and Annie Whiteley won by an identical score at No. 2, defeating Lindsay Nash and Kelly Ehrhardt. Abby Landsness and Sarah Christopherson held off Michelle Hartman and Rami Vokt by an (8-5) margin to put Luther in front, 3-0.
Elise Allen and Maggie Helms saw action in singles and came away with convincing wins at the top two spots. Allen beat Bost (6-1, 6-0) at No. 1 while Helms defeated Nash (6-2, 6-1) at No. 2. Whiteley and Landsness also picked up victories at the bottom of the lineup. Whiteley was a (6-1, 6-0) winner over Vokt at No. 5 while Landsness topped Nicole Gilbert (6-0, 6-1) at No. 6. Megan Wachholz held on to win in a third set super tie-breaker at No. 4, outlasting Hartman (5-7, 7-5, (10-7)). Olivia Heitz dropped her singles match (6-3, 6-1) to Ehrhardt at No. 3.
