Thanks to a 3-0 sweep of Central College tonight here in the Regents Center, the Luther volleyball team qualified for the six-team Iowa Conference Tournament. The tournament will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 30 with the highest seeds hosting.
Set scores for tonight's match were 25-13, 26-24, 26-24. The Norse came from behind to win both sets two and three.
Hannah Wilson and Hannah Theisen led the Norse attack with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Sophia Brown was next with six, while Natalee Johnson and McKinzy Lohberger were both credited with three. Brown also led the team with three total blocks.
Lindsey Ryan entered tonight's match needing 37 assists to reach the 1,000 mark for the season. She will have to wait until Wednesday night to reach this total as she tallied 30.
Brandi Knupp and Johnson led the defensive effort with 17 digs and 11 digs.
The victory gives Luther an IIAC record of 2-4, 13-16 overall. Central fell to 2-4 in league play, 8-15 overall.
Luther will wrap up the regular season Iowa Conference schedule Wednesday night when it will travel to Buena Vista University. Match time is schedule for 7:30 p.m.
