IIAC Outdoor Championships

The 2017 Iowa Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships are complete. Luther finished in eighth place with 60 points. Buena Vista University is hosting this year's outdoor championships.

Day 2 Recap: Earning all-conference honors this afternoon was Patrick Finnegan and Isaac Jensen in the 3,000 steeplechase and the 4 x 800 relay. To earn all-conference honors an athlete or relay must finish in the top-three of their respective event.

Finnegan placed second with a time of (9:40.08). Jensen was right behind him in third clocked at (9:40.40). Also earning points for the Norse in this event was Parker Beard who was fifth (9:47.65) and Will Simonson who was seventh (9:57.71).

The 4 x 800 of Mitch Stenoien, Alex Bishop, Andrew Millan and Collin Kern placed second with a time of (7:47.65).

The Decathlon was also completed today. Elijah Kane placed sixth from the field of 10 competitors with a point total of 5593 that ranks tenth on Luther's all-time list. Jackson Hendricks placed tenth with 4450 points. 

Lucas Kane also posted a top-10 performance in the hammer throw. Kane placed 16th from the field of 30, with a distance of 144-03. He moved up to seventh all-time with this mark.

Final Day Recap: Collin Kern and Elijah Kane earned all-conference honors this afternoon. Kern placed second in the 1500 with a time of 4:01.03. Kane placed second in the javelin with a distance of 182-1. This distance ranks fifth on Luther's all-time list.

Lucas Kane (168-10) and Jeremy Redmond (160-2) also earned team points in the javelin today finishing fourth and eighth respectively. 

Also earning team points today was Isaac Jensen and Patrick Larson in the 5000. Jensen finished seventh (15:33.85) and Larson was eighth (15:36.24). Trent Ostby planced fifth in the pole vault with a height of (13-1 1/2).
