Luther hosted the annual Luther-Wartburg Dual this afternoon. The Knights won the meet with 111 points and Luther tallied 77.
Collin Kern set a meet record today placing first in the 1500 meter (3:58.13). The old record was (4:00.66) that was established by Daniel Bonthius of Wartburg in 2015.
First place finishes were also tallied by Mitch Stenoien in the 800 (1:55.91); Trent Ostby in the pole vault (12-11 1/2); Koltin Pfaffle in the shot put (45-1 1/2); and Lucas Kane in the javelin (168-9).
Patrick Larson placed second in the 3200 and posted the sixth fastest time in school history in (9:27.90). Lucas Kane remained in the tenth slot all-time in the hammer throw (131-4) improving on his previous best of (127-7).
Second place finishes were also recorded by Nana Asante-Apeautu in the 100 meters (11.53), Pfaffle in the discus (119-5), Elijah Kane in the javelin (167-8) and the 4 x 400 relay of Cooper Nelson, Carter Fritz, Noah Goetzke and Noah Kudla (3:29.51).
Next for the Norse is the Iowa Conference Championships. Buena Vista University will host the three-day meet May 11-13. The multi-events will begin on May 11.
