  • 1979 graduate of Luther College
  • M.A. Physical Education - University of Iowa - 1996
  • 30th year as head coach - ninth as head coach for both the men's and women's programs
  • USA Track and Field Level 1 and Level 2 Certified Coach (Jumps)
  • During his tenure his student-athletes have recorded 482 all-conference performances (top-three finishes); 23 indoor conference titles; 75 outdoor conference titles; and 44 All-American honors
  • Last year, Tricia Serres '16 won her first national title in the 1500 outdoors
  • In 2001 the Distance Medley Relay won the national championship indoors
  • Named 1995 Iowa Conference Coach of the Year in track and field
  • Serves as director of the Luther College Distance Running Camp

Steve Pasche

Assistant Coach - Mid-Distance/Distance

  • 1997 graduate of St. John's University
  • 1999 graduate of University of Iowa - M.S. Exercise Physiology
  • 11th year as assistant coach
  • Also serves as the head men's and women's cross-country coach
  • Led Norse men's team to Iowa Conference cross country championship in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010
  • His men's cross-country teams have placed 6th at the NCAA III National Championships in 2006, 8th in 2007 and 26th in 2010, 24th in 2012 and 14th in 2013
  • Named Iowa Conference Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010
  • Prior to taking over the Norse programs Steve spent two years as an assistant at Williams College (MA), where the women's team won the national championship in 2004 and the men's team finished in the top-10 in 2003 and 2004
  • From 2000-02 head men's coach of cross country at Macalester College (MN)

Yarrow Pasche

Assistant Coach - Mid-Distance/Distance

 

  • 2000 Graduate of Macalester College
  • 11th year as an assistant coach
  • Also serves as the associate head coach for women's cross country team
  • Led the Norse women to Iowa Conference cross-country championships in 2006, 2007 and 2010
  • Her teams have made seven appearances at the NCAA III National Cross-Country Championships finishing 11th (2006), 10th (2007), 7th (2008), 6th in 2010, 23rd in 2011, 14th in 2012, and 27th in 2013
  • Named Iowa Conference Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2006, 2007 and 2010
  • Named Cross Country Central Region Coach of the Year after the Norse captured the 2007 and 2010 Central Region championship
  • Joined the Luther staff following two years as an assistant at Williams College (Mass.), where the women's team won the national title in 2004
  • Four-time All-American in 1500 meter run (1997-2000) and a two-time All-American in Cross Country (1997, 1998) while a student-athlete at Macalester College

Vaughn Tackmann

Assistant Coach - Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps, Recruiting Coordinator

  • Third year as an assistant coach
  • 2011 graduate of Luther College
  • Certification of Track and Field Technical Coaching
  • Four-year letter winner in track and field
  • 2010 all-conference in the 4x400
  • Iowa Conference Spring Sports All-Academic Team honoree

Maggie Pierson

Assistant Coach - Mid-Distance, Distance

  • 2014 graduate of Luther College - B.A. Physical Education, Religion
  • Second year as an assistant coach
  • Two-time all-Iowa Conference performer in cross country
  • 2013 all-Central Region performer in cross country
  • Completed her career with six top-10 performances in track and field
  • Outdoor track all-conference performer in the 5,000, 1500, distance medley relay and 4 x 800
  • Multiple time Member of Iowa Conference Fall and Spring Sports all-Academic team (3.5 GPA or higher)`
