The Luther College men’s tennis team continued to play outstanding competition, opening its spring trip in Orlando, Fla., with a match against Georgia College, ranked No. 18 in the nation in NCAA DII. The Norse played well at several spots, but were unable to grab any individual wins in a 9-0 loss.
Sean Brown and Samuel Cychosz played the closest doubles match, falling (8-6) to Andreas Ainalides and Alex Nolley at No. 3.
James Ayer was the lone Luther player to grab a set in singles, dropping a (6-4, 5-7, (10-7)) decision to Alex Schubert at No. 4. Several of the other singles matches were competitive with Nick Mozena, Torstein Jystad, and Quinn Foley all staying close the entire way against their opponents. Mozena lost (6-4, 6-4) to Ainalides at No. 2 while Jystad came out on the short end of a (6-3, 6-4) decision against Mattia Campus at No. 5. Foley dropped a (6-3, 7-6 (2)) decision to Taylor Powell at No. 6.
