Luther improved to 2-1 in the Iowa Conference thanks to a 2-0 home victory over Simpson College.
Josh Galvin scored his second goal in as many matches, at 1:56 into the first frame, in what proved to be the game winner. Martin Stalberger assisted on the goal. Matheus Beato drove an insurance goal at 43:58 assisted by Holly Gray III.
Tommy Breen and Peter Wright split time in the nets helping secure Luther's fifth shutout of the season. Wright was credited with five saves and Breen two.
The win was Luther's sixth in a row over the Storm who fell to 1-2 in league play, 9-5 overall. Luther improved to 10-1 overall and is off to the second best start in school history. In 2002, the Norse started 12-1 before dropping their second match en route to a final mark of 17-3-1.
Luther returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 9 when it will travel to UW-Platteville for a 7:30 p.m. match.
