Jon Gednalske Selected to Play for USA D-3 All-Star Team

Ron Smith of USA Sports Tours & Events has announced that Luther College freshman forward, Jon Gednalske has been selected to play for the USA D-3 All-Star Soccer Team that will tour Brazil during the month of May this summer.

The USA D-3 All-Star team is comprised of 14 players from across the nation who were recognized as some of the top players in their conference, region, and in the nation.  

The USA D-3 Soccer team tour will run from May 20 through May 29.  The squad will begin with orientation and practice in Orlando, Florida for the first 24 hours before flying to Sao Paulo, Brazil for back-to-back-to-back contests in the City of Jundiai and the state of Sao Paulo on May 22, 23 and 24.  The teams will then travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for one more contest on May 27.  The team will be competing against top U-22 club teams from the States of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Aside from representing the USA on the pitch, the trip will also provide the group of All-Stars with educational, social and cultural outreach opportunities within the communities they visit, and will also allow them to visit schools and historical sites throughout Brazil.

Joe Mooney, Head Coach of the University of Wisconsin-Superior will be the Head Coach of the Men’s USA D-3 Soccer Team.

Gednalske, a 2012 graduate of Lincoln High School (Sioux Falls, S.D.), was named honorable mention all-Iowa Conference after helping lead the Norse to an overall record of 10-5-3. He finished second on the team in total points scoring five goals and dishing out three assists for a total of 13 points.

Gednalske is the son of Jeffrey and Julie Gednalske of Sioux Falls, S.D.
