Chris Garcia-Prats

Head Men's Soccer Coach

  • 2002 graduate of Trinity University
  • The 2017 season will be coach Garcia-Prats 10th year as head coach
  • He has led the Norse to an overall record of 107-58-17, 44-22 in the Iowa Conference
  • During his tenure his teams have won Iowa Conference championships (2011, 2013) and have made three appearances in the NCAA III National Tournament (2011- round of 16, 2013, 2016)
  • Last year, the Norse finished the year ranked No. 23 in the NCAA III
  • In 2013 the Norse were ranked nationally as high as No. 6 with a final ranking of No. 22; in 2014 they Norse spent five weeks in the national rankings with a high at No. 7
  • He has coached student-athletes who have earned three All-American honors, 28 all-conference honors and 12 all-Region honors
  • In 2011 he was named the Iowa Conference Coach of the Year and NSCAA North Region Coach of the Year
  • Prior to Luther, he served as the assistant men's soccer coach and recruiting coordinator at Trinity University. During this stretch Trinity University made six NCAA Tournament appearances and three semifinal appearances, winning the national championship in 2003, and finishing second in 2007
  • He also served has a head coach for the Classics Elite Soccer Academy in San Antonio and an Olympic Development Program state coach for the South Texas Region since 2004
  • During his playing days, he started 86 of 87 games serving as a two-year captain
  • Four-time Southern Collegiate Athletic all-conference honoree. Also was an NSCAA All-Region selection in 2000
  • Played on two SCAC Championship teams and two NCAA National Tournament teams
  • During his four-year career, Trinity University posted a record of 74-10-2

James Garcia-Prats

Assistant Soccer Coach

  • 2014 graduate of Luther College - B.A. - Sociology
  • The 2017 campaign will be James' fourth year as assistant coach
  • Made 79 appearances while helping lead Norse to two Iowa Conference titles and two appearances in the NCAA III National Tournament
  • Tallied 13 goals and 22 assists during his career
  • Two-time NCAA III All-American at midfield
  • Three-time all-Iowa Conference selection
  • Three-time all-Region selection
  • NCAA Postgraduate Scholar
  • Also serves as Decorah High School Boys Head Soccer Coach in the spring

Hollie Gray III

Assistant Coach

  • 2015 graduate of Luther College
  • Third year as assistant coach
  • Two-year letter winner for the Norse
  • Made 56 appearances that included 53 at defender
  • Helped lead Norse to an Iowa Conference title and NCAA III National Tournament appearance in 2013
  • Second-team all-conference honoree as a senior

Ryan Martin

Assistant Coach - Goalkeepers

    • 2008 graduate of Waldorf College
    • Returns for second time as Luther's goalkeeper coach - his first year was 2009
    • Decorah High School boys assistant coach - 2009-11
    • Waldorf College men's head coach - 2011-15
    • During his playing days he was a four-year starter and served as team captain for two years
    • Named Waldorf Defender of the Year - 2007
    • Holds several Waldorf College goalkeeping records
