Chris Garcia-Prats

Head Men's Soccer Coach

  • 2002 graduate of Trinity University
  • Eighth year as head coach
  • The past four years he has led the Norse to a record of 58-16-8, two Iowa Conference championships and two appearances in the NCAA III National Tournament
  • During his tenure he has coached student-athletes who have earned three All-American honors, 23 all-conference honors and 11 all-Region honors
  • He was named the 2011 NSCAA North Region Coach of the Year
  • Prior to Luther, he served as the assistant men's soccer coach and recruiting coordinator at Trinity University. During this stretch Trinity University made six NCAA Tournament appearances and three semifinal appearances, winning the national championship in 2003, and finishing second in 2007
  • He also served has a head coach for the Classics Elite Soccer Academy in San Antonio and an Olympic Development Program state coach for the South Texas Region since 2004
  • During his playing days, he started 86 of 87 games serving as a two-year captain
  • Four-time Southern Collegiate Athletic all-conference honoree. Also was an NSCAA All-Region selection in 2000
  • Played on two SCAC Championship teams and two NCAA National Tournament teams
  • During his four-year career, Trinity University posted a record of 74-10-2

  • Second year as assistant coach
  • Made 79 appearances while helping lead Norse to two Iowa Conference titles and two appearances in the NCAA III National Tournament
  • Tallied 13 goals and 22 assists during his career
  • Two-time NCAA III All-American at midfield
  • Three-time all-Iowa Conference selection
  • Three-time all-Region selection
  • NCAA Postgraduate Scholar

    • 2012 Graduate of Luther College - B.A. Management
    • Third year as an assistant coach
    • Employed by Target Corporation in Minneapolis
    • 2011 NSCAA All-American
    • 2011 Iowa Conference MVP
    • 2011 Goalkeeper of the Year
    • Made 56 starts during his Luther career posting a goals-against-average of 0.77
    • Tallied 23 shut outs during his career
    • Finished his senior year ranked second in the NCAA III with a goals-against-average of 0.34 allowing just eight goals in over 2,000 minutes of action

    • First year as assistant coach
    • Two-year letter winner for the Norse
    • Made 56 appearances that included 53 at defender
    • Helped lead Norse to an Iowa Conference title and NCAA III National Tournament appearance in 2013
    • Second-team all-conference honoree as a senior
