Andrew Peter, a 2010 graduate of Decorah High School, has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Men’s At-Large Team as a third team selection.
The 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Men’s At-Large Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One became the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs in 2011.
Sports that comprise the men’s at-large team include fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Peter was selected from a pool of first-team all-district honorees from eight regions. This year’s Capital One Academic All-America® Division III Men’s At-Large Team consists of 15 first-team, 15 second-team and 15 third-team honorees, for a total of 45 student-athletes chosen for this outstanding honor.
During the 2013-14 campaign, Peter posted a stroke average of 74.2 while playing 22 rounds for the Norse. He earned all-Iowa Conference honors for a second time placing tenth at the 2014 Iowa Conference Tournament. Last year, he was the Iowa Conference Tournament medalist, was named league MVP and was also named a 2013 Division III Third Team Ping All-American. Twice he has been named Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division III Ping All-Central Region during his career and earlier this year he was also named a Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.
Peter, who graduated from Luther in May, was a Political Science major who accumulated a grade point average of 3.97. He is the son of Tim and Sandra Peter.
