The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) has announced that Luther College sophomore quarterback Ian Kuykendall has been named the Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 1.
Kuykendall help lead Luther to a 36-14 road victory over Buena Vista University on Saturday, Sept. 30. He rushed for 178 yards on 28 carries and two touchdowns, and threw for 172 yards and one touchdown, all single game career highs.
Kuykendall orchestrated a Norse offensive attack that set a single game school record with 608 yards of total offense. The old mark of 601 was established in 1983 versus William Penn.
In the latest NCAA III National statistics released today, Luther is ranked eighth for rushing yards per game, averaging 305.2.
The Norse have won three in a row and are off to their best start in the Iowa Conference (2-0) and overall (3-1) since 2005.
Luther hosts Nebraska Wesleyan University for Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 7. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
