The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its 2011 Men's Division III All-Academic Cross Country Team yesterday, and Luther's Austin Bauer and Marty Mitchell were among the 141 student-athletes that represented the 80 institutions on this year's list.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of (3.30) or greater through the most-recent semester and placed in the top-35, earning all-region honors, at the NCAA Regional Championships.
Mitchell and Bauer helped lead Luther to a fifth place finish at the 2011 Central Regional, placing 19th and 27th respectively, from the field of 185 competitors. This was the first time that both runners earned all-region honors.
