Luther posted its second win in a row defeating UW-River Falls 74-60 in the Regents Center. The Norse led 36-18 at halftime, but had to fight off a 19-8 run by the Falcons in the first nine minutes of the second frame, that gave the Norse a 44-37 lead. It proved to be as close as the Falcons would get the rest of the evening.
The Norse blistered the nets connecting on 58 percent that included a 10-for-16 effort from three-point land. Defensively, the Norse held the Falcons to 36.4 percent. The Falcons were just 7-of-24 in the first frame.
Luther had four players recorded double digits led by Kyle Rosacker who poured in a career high 17 points. Rosacker missed one shot the entire evening, connecting on 5-of-6 attempts from behind the three-point line. John Androus and Michael Crocker were next with 15 and 14 respectively, while Zach Matos-Pritchard chipped in 11.
Arik Smith was the lone double digit scorer for the Falcons with a game high 21 points.
The victory gives Luther an overall record of 6-3. River Falls falls to 3-7.
The Norse will be off until after the Christmas Holiday's when they will travel to Thousand Oaks, Calif., for the California Lutheran Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Tournament Dec. 29-30.
