The Iowa Conference has announced that with three men's and five women's league titles decided this fall, Luther is tied for first in the All-Sports Trophy standings with Wartburg College. Both schools have a total of 17 points.
The Norse captured conference titles in men's soccer and women's tennis; finished second in volleyball; third in football, women's golf and women's cross country; fourth in men's cross country; and sixth in women's soccer.
Following the conclusion of the fall, winter and spring championships, each school's finish in each sport is determined and given a numerical worth by inverting the finish (i.e. first place is worth nine points, second place is worth eight points, third place is worth seven points, etc). In case of ties, the worth of all places involved are totaled and divided by the number of teams in that tie. Each school's finish in all sports is then totaled, and the school with the largest number of points shall be awarded the All-Sports Trophy.
Separately, The men compete for the Elmer Hertel Men's All-Sport Trophy, and the women compete for the Marjorie Giles Women's All-Sports Trophy.
After three fall men's championship events Luther sits atop the Elmer Hertel Men's standings with 22 points, while both Wartburg and Loras are one point behind with 21.
The women competed for five conference championships this fall and Luther is in second place with 35 points, three points behind Wartburg.
