Instructional Camp is open to players entering 7-12 grades. Students will be ability grouped and exposed to drills, shot selection, playing percentage tennis, target serving, and competitive opportunities that are designed to challenge and improve technique.
Adam Strand is in his fifth season as head men’s and women’s tennis coach for Luther College. The Luther men’s tennis team has won 31 Iowa Conference titles with six NCAA Tournament bids. The Luther women’s team has gone to the NCAA Tournament 13 times while winning 25 conference titles.
In Strand’s first four seasons, the Norse men are 74-36 overall with a 25-4 regular season mark against Iowa Conference opponents. The squad has finished in the top 20 out of around 100 teams in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region rankings in each of Strand's four seasons.
The Norse women compiled a 64-37 record and 25-4 regular season mark against Iowa Conference opponents in Strand's first four seasons. The women finished the fall portion of his fifth campaign with a 9-1 mark, giving Strand a total record of 147-74 with the Norse program heading into the 2016 spring season.
Strand previously spent five and a half years at Augustana College, where he also coached both squads. At Augustana, he led his men’s team to three straight 20 win seasons and three consecutive regional rankings. His women set a new school record for victories in 2010-11 and finished No. 14 in the Central Region. Strand was also named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Coach of the Year in 2010. He coached 17 All-Conference performers and 10 ITA Academic All-Americans. Eight of Strand’s players also reached the 100 win mark under his leadership. He concluded his coaching run at Augustana with an overall record of 178-124, finishing 107-66 with the men and 71-58 with the women. Strand's career coaching record stands at 325-196 heading into the 2016 spring season.
Prior to his years of coaching, Strand was a teaching professional at Westfield Tennis Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was also a teaching professional for A.C.T. Tennis Services in Downers Grove, Illinois. He is a 2004 graduate of Luther College.
Miriam Skrade is a 2004 graduate of Luther College as a four-year letter winner and competed in the #1 singles and #1 doubles position for the Norse. She received IIAC All-Conference honors three years and Academic All-Conference honors four years.
She is back as the assistant men's and women's tennis coach at Luther after spending two years as Head Coach of the Knox College tennis program. Prior to Knox, Skrade spent four seasons as Head Coach of the Ames High School Boys Team. Miriam was named Conference Coach of the Year in 2011, 2012, and 2013. She coached Ames to two team State Runner-Up finishes, a third place showing and one team State Championship, the team’s best finishes. Miriam also coached 1 State Champion doubles team, 3 State Runner-up doubles teams, and 4 Singles Medalists. She was the Director of Junior Tennis for the Ames Tennis Academy from 2006-10 and is a current 4.5 USTA player on a women’s and mixed doubles team. She has served as the Assistant Coach for the Norse women in 2004, 2011 and 2012 and has a M.S. in Kinesiology from Iowa State University.
Luther College Men’s and Women’s tennis team members will assist Strand and Skrade. The student to staff ratio is 6:1.

Regents Center indoor facilities include six tennis courts; a six-lane, 200-meter track; six full-sized basketball courts; 25-yard, six-lane swimming pool; locker, training, and equipment rooms. The Legends Fitness for Life Center offers a strength and fitness facility with its own climbing wall. The outdoor facilities include 12 tennis courts, a cross country race course, fitness trails, and an all-weather track.
Campers live in a comfortable, air-conditioned residence hall on the Luther campus and eat in the Dahl Centennial Union dining hall. College athletes serve as camps counselors and provide full supervision and help direct all camp activities. Medical services for campers are available through local clinics, as well as the emergency room at the Winneshiek Medical Center. Individual campers are responsible for any medication, and hospital and physician fees.
