Luther traveled to Grinnell, Iowa to play games against Grinnell College and the University of Chicago. In today's first game, Luther defeated Grinnell 14-10.
Trailing the Pioneers 8-3 entering the top of the eighth, the Norse exploded for nine runs, that included six that were unearned. In this frame, Bryce Hingst and Mitch Bruggers hit back-to-back home runs. Hingt's was a two-run shot to right field, while Bruggers hit a solo shot to left.
The Norse finished scoring two runs in the ninth to secure the come-from-behind victory.
Luther tallied 16 hits and led 3-0 entering the bottom of the fifth, when Grinnell scored six runs and then added two in the sixth, to take the 8-3 lead.
Hingst drove in four runs going 3-for-5. Trent Athmann drove in three runs and Bruggers drove in two while going a team best 4-for-5. Jake Vogt (2-for-4) and Tommy Gleason (2-for-5) also had multiple hit games.
Kyle Bode picked up his first win of the season in relief. Bode pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowed four runs on four hits, walked three and struck out two.
