Luther leveled its overall record to 2-2, thanks to a 73-60 home victory over UW-Platteville. The Norse jumped out to a 17-point lead (21-4) early in the first quarter and led 36-24 at halftime. The Pioneers battled back in the second half and got as close as six points (55-49), with two minutes remaining the third quarter. It proved to be as close as UWP would get the rest of the game.
Defensively, Luther held Platteville to 27.4 percent from the field. The Norse also forced 22 turnovers that led to 19 points. Luther shot 39 percent and was 20-of-30 from the free throw line.
Katie Waller and Claire Marburger combined for all but 27 of Luther's points. Waller led all scorers with a career high 24, while Marburger was credited with 22. Waller was 7-of-16 from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. Marburger recorded a double-double, pulling down a team high 12 rebounds.
Luther's next action will be at the Holiday Inn Express Classic that will be hosted by UW-La Crosse Nov. 25-26. Luther will play host UWL on the 25th at 5:00 p.m., and on the 26th will face UW-Oshkosh at 3:00 p.m.
