The first match of the 2017 campaign went five sets, but unfortunately for the Norse they came out on the wrong end of the final. University of Chicago jumped out to a 2-0 lead posting wins of 25-21, 25-23. Luther responded with wins of 26-24, 25-23 in sets three and four respectively. In the fifth and final set, Chicago posted a 15-8 win, to secure the 3-2 victory.
Three Norse tallied double digit kill totals. Anna Larson and Karissa Kime both tallied a team best 16, while Emma Veum was credited with 15. San Sixta dished out 53 assists. Natalie Cote led a five-some of double digit dig totals with 27. Larson was credited with 17, Kime and Sixta had 12 and Morgan Towne had 11.
