Wartburg College defeated Luther tonight 3-0. The start of this match was delayed nearly two hours due to lightning, that cleared the field with 20 minutes remaining before the scheduled start at 5:00 p.m.
The Knights scored twice in the first half and added an insurance goal in the second en route to the victory. Wartburg's Morgan Neuendorf scored what proved to be the game winner at 34:28. Seven minutes later, Alyssa Drewelow found the back of the Norse net, and Nicole Adair completed the scoring at 64:13.
Knights goalkeeper Beth Crow turned away eight shots on goal that included a penalty kick early in the second frame.
The loss dropped Luther into fourth place in the league standings. The Norse are now 3-2 in Iowa Conference play, 6-7 overall. Wartburg moved into second place with a record of 3-1-2, 9-4-2 overall.
Luther's next match will be at Coe College on Wednesday, Oct. 18. Start time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
