Luther hosted Nebraska Wesleyan University for an Iowa Conference Tournament semifinal match under the lights. The Norse and advanced to Saturday's championship match after posting a 2-0 victory over the Prairie Wolves.
The Norse spent most of the evening in the Prairie Wolves side of the field but did not score until the second half. Brunno Colon scored what proved to be the game winner at 58:27, assisted by Benjamin Keller (5). Colon's goal was his ninth of the year.
Rafael Broseghini added an unassisted insurance goal in the 87th minute, his fifth of the year. Broseghini took a loose ball across midfield, attacked the NWU goal and drove his shot in the lower right corner of the net.
The Norse out shot the Prairie Wolves 20-7 and placed 10 shots on goal. Norse keeper Carson Davenport was credited with two saves en route to his fifth shutout of the season.
The win increased Luther's overall record to 11-4-4. NWU ends its season with a mark of 11-7-1.
As the No. 1 seed of the tournament, Luther will now host the championship match on Saturday, Nov. 4. The Norse will face No. 2 Loras College. The Duhawks defeated Simpson tonight in the Rock Bowl by a final of 3-0. Start time for the championship match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
