The 2017 NCAA III Central Regional was hosted by Carleton College on a chilly morning in Northfield, Minn. Twenty-nine teams competed for the regional title that was won by Loras College. The Duhawks posted a team total of 53 points. Host Carleton was second with 67, followed by Wartburg College with 100 and Nebraska Wesleyan University with 110. Luther finished fifth with 159 points.

Individually, three Luther runners earned all-region honors for the first time of their careers, by finishing in the top-35 from the field of 200 competitors. Patrick Finnegan placed 24th (25:42), Erik Duethman was 27th (25:45.1) and Luke Lumbar finished 28th (25:45.8).

Completing the Norse seven included Collin Kern (39th - 26:06.5), Isiah Herout (41st - 26:06.9), Bryce Hefty (58th - 26:25) and Hunter Prueger (70th - 26:38).
