Luther posted its second win today in the Iowa Conference Tournament defeating University of Dubuque 4-3. Trailing 3-2 entering their last at-bat, the Norse scored twice in the top of the ninth, en route to the come-from-behind victory.
Joe Silversmith started the rally with a triple to right-center field. Bryce Hingst was hit by a pitch giving the Norse runners on the corners with no outs. The very next batter, Mitch Bruggers, drove in Silversmith with a double to right field and advanced Hingst to third. Cody Reimer hit what looked to be a sacrifice fly to right, but Hingst was called out for leaving third base early. With two outs, Jake Halverson drove in Bruggers from third with a bunt single in what proved to be the game winner.
Reimer went the distance on the mound. He allowed three runs on eight hits, walked two and struck out five and is now 5-1.
Luther (26-16) will now face Coe College tonight at 7:30 p.m. Dubuque ends its season with an overall mark of 23-19.
