Luther improved to 17-11 thanks to a sweep of Lawrence University by scores of 9-2, 13-10. These games were played at Woodside Sports Complex in Mauston, Wis. The two wins also gives Luther its longest win streak of season that now stands at five in a row.

In game one, Luther produced 13 hits and jumped on Lawrence early, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first frame. Lawrence starter Matthew Holliday faced just seven batters and did not get an out before his evening came to a quick end. Jake Halverson drove in two runs, while Jon Opdahl, Joe Silversmith, Cody Reimer and Joey Sullivan all drove in one.

Opdahl (2-for-3), Bryce Hingst (3-for-4) and Cody Reimer (3-for-4) had multiple hit efforts.

Joey Cardamon was credited with his third win of the year against one loss. Cardamon allowed one run on four hits, walked one and struck out five in five innings of work.

Luther took control of game two, scoring seven runs in the top of the first. The Norse added a run in both the second and third innings and finished with four in the fourth. 

Eli Patrikus was credited with the win in relief. Patrikus tossed two scoreless innings and allowed just one hit en route to his first win of the year. Colin Coffey picked up his fourth save of the season, striking out three of the four batters he faced in the bottom of the seventh.

Multiple hits were produced by Trent Athmann (2-for-5), Hingst (2-for-4) and Gannon Jordahl (2-for-3). Silversmith led the team with three RBI thanks to a three-run home run over the left field fence in the first. Jake Vogt, Max Uetz and Jordahl were all credited with two RBI.

Luther will wrap up its non-conference schedule this week. The Norse travel to Cornell College (IA) for one nine inning game on Thursday, April 20, and then host Northland College (WI) for a double header on Sunday, April 23. The Cornell game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. in Mount Vernon and Sunday's twin bill will begin at 2:30 p.m.
