Ellie Bunz scored her third game winner of the season and it could not have come at a better time. Bunz broke a 1-1 tie with her sixth goal of the season in the 109th minute assisted by Erin Wilson.
Simpson put the first mark on the scoreboard just six minutes into the contest, a penalty kick by Mackenzie Stump. Madison Speer leveled the score with her first goal of the year at 80:42 assisted by Wilson.
The Norse peppered the Storm nets forcing goalkeeper Kristin Riley to make 15 saves. The team was also credited with stopping two shots on goal. Luther outshot Simpson 41-4.
The win gives Luther an Iowa Conference record of 2-1, 11-1 overall, matching the best start in school history (2002). Simpson fell to 0-2-1 in league play, 2-10-1 overall.
A non-conference match at UW-Eau Claire is next for Luther on Wednesday, Oct. 8. This match will begin at 4:00 p.m.
