Loras scored 14 points following two Luther turnovers and also had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown en route to a 22-20 victory over Luther this afternoon in the Rock Bowl. The loss was the fifth in a row for the Norse who fell to 1-5 in the IIAC, 4-5 overall. Loras improved to 2-4 in league play, 3-6 overall.
Defensively, the Norse had their best outing since the Dubuque game, holding the Duhawks to 255 yards of total offense. Unfortunately, the defensive unit had its back against the wall after the Norse lost fumbles on their own 35 and 29-yard lines, that resulted in Duhawk scores.
Sean Guerra and Aric Elton led the defensive unit with 11 and 10 tackles respectively. Matt Larson was next with seven and was also credited with one of two interceptions by the defensive unit on the afternoon. Josh Olerud was credited with the other.
Offensively, the Norse tallied 281 yards of total offense, well below its average of 393 entering today's contest. Josh Vos led the rushing attack with 92 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown. Vos was also on the end of a four-yard touchdown pass from JJ Sirios. Cooper Nelson was next with 64 yards on 11 carries and scored on a 25-yard run last in the first quarter.
Luther will wrap up the year next week at Simpson College. Kick-off will take place at 1:00 p.m.
