Lydia Eager scored the game winner in the 54th minute as Luther defeated UW-Eau Claire 1-0 tonight under the lights. Eager's goal, a one-touch in front of the net, was her first of the season and she was assisted by Elly Arend (6) who sent the cross from the right side of the field.
Cydney Haaland recorded her fourth shutout in the past five matches, turning away all six shots she faced on goal.
The win was the seventh in a row for the Norse who improved to 8-5-0. UW-Eau Claire has lost four of its last five matches and is now 4-6-3. The victory also snapped a four-match losing streak to the Blugolds.
The Norse resume Iowa Conference action this Saturday. The only undefeated teams in the league will face each other in Dubuque for an opportunity to take sole possession of first place. Loras (4-0), ranked No. 15 in the NCAA III, with host Luther (4-0) with a start time scheduled for 5:00 p.m. in the Rock Bowl.
