Simpson College scored 19 runs on 22 hits and swept Luther 7-2, 12-4 (5) this afternoon in Decorah.
Trailing 2-1 after four complete, the Storm scored three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings en route to the victory. Ashley Prettyman hit a three run home run in the fifth and Chelsea Winegard and Hillary Harmon drove in runs in the sixth.
Luther jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, thanks to RBIs by Carli Radil and Katie Wieland.
Becca Girvan (12-4) pitched six innings allowing seven runs on 10 hits. She walked two and struckout nine.
Alise Miller, who was 2-for-3, drove in two runs, while Kelsey Weindruch and Miranda McCay each drove in one.
Erica Manske (7-1) was credited with the loss. Manske threw 3 1/3 innings, allowed five runs on six hits, walked three and struck out three.
The two losses drops Luther to 7-3 in the Iowa Conference, 21-7 overall. Simpson improved to 6-6 in league play, 27-9 overall.
The Norse will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they will host UW-Stevens Point. This non-conference double header is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. Both games will be video streamed.
