Luther fell to 1-3 in Iowa Conference play after being defeated by University of Dubuque 3-1 here in the Regents Center. The Spartans won sets one, three and four by scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-22 respectively. Luther's victory in set two was 25-23.
The Norse tallied an attack percentage of .087. The Norse also recorded 10 service errors in the loss. The Spartans posted an attack percentage of .144 and also recorded double digit service errors with 11.
Sophia Brown, who was honored after the match as the only senior on the squad, led the Norse with 14 kills and four block assists. Hannah Theisen was next with 13. Lindsey Ryan dished out 38 assists and also led the team with five ace serves. Alexis Dorschner and Katie Supplee led the defensive efforts with 14 and 13 digs each.
Dubuque was led by Klaudia Basierak who was credited with a match high 19 kills. Susan Danielewski was just shy of double digits in this category with nine.
The loss drops Luther's overall record to 8-9. Dubuque improved to 3-1 in the IIAC, 10-11 overall.
The Norse will travel to St. Paul, Minn. for a couple of non-conference matches this weekend. On Friday, Luther will play at Augsburg College at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, the Norse will square off against Hamline University at Noon.
