Iowa Sociological Association

On Friday May 1st, Char Kunkel and 10 Sociology students attended the Iowa Sociological Association annual meetings at Central College in Pella, IA.  Seniors Kaila Will, Sarah Forsythe, Thomas Bottem, Kate Wagner, and Amanda Becchetti presented papers.  Kaila Will won the Ward Reynoldson award for the best paper in criminology for her paper "The Use of Expert Testimony on Battered Woman’s Syndrome and Battering and its Effects in the Legal System".

The keynote speaker was a powerful presentation by the organization From Death to Life on reconciliation between mothers of murdered sons and those convicted of the violence. Also in attendance were Sarah Doreza, Jorge Loyo, Aracelli Garcia, Paul Larson, and Mic Farrin.
