Luther College is a residential college; students should plan to live on campus for the entire time they are enrolled as a student. College policy states: “All full-time students are required to live in college-owned housing unless married, 23 years of age by the first day of classes, or commuting from their legal guardians’ homes within 30 miles of campus. Off-campus living is limited and is permitted only when there is a shortage of rooms in college residence halls. Students must receive written permission to life off campus.” The number of students approved to live off campus will vary depending on projected enrollment for the fall semester. Due to projected enrollment numbers, we do not anticipate a shortage of beds on campus. Therefore, only the students who meet the above qualifications and fill out the proper paperwork will be approved to live off-campus for the 2017-2018 academic year.
Please note: Ninth-semester seniors are automatically approved to live off-campus after notifying the Residence Life office of their intention. Students are also discouraged from signing leases with a landlord until they have received written permission to move off campus. Residence hall housing contracts are legally binding documents.
