Baker Village is designed to give groups of six students of the same sex the opportunity to live together as a peer group in townhouse-style housing in single and double rooms. The Baker Village application process takes place in February for the upcoming academic year.
The Prairie Houses provide groups of seven students of the same sex the opportunity to live together as a peer group in one of three houses on the edge of campus. College Apartments with Kitchens (610 Ridge Road)
Six one-bedroom apartments are available for two students of the same sex. The College Apartments with kitchens application process takes place in February for the upcoming academic year.
Farwell co-ed eight-single-room cluster is designated as a co-ed cluster with eight single rooms not defined by sex or gender. An application process takes place in February for the upcoming academic year.
Norby Global House
Newly renovated in the summer of 2009, Norby Global House is a two-story home located in a residential neighborhood within a few minutes walking distance from campus. Norby Global House is a co-ed living-learning community where 21 upper-class students engage in discussions on global issues, develop their international awareness, attend cultural events, and expand their knowledge of global resources. An application process takes place in February for the upcoming academic year.
The Sustainability House is a two-story home located in a residential neighborhood within a few minutes walking distance from campus. The Sustainability House is a co-ed living-learning environment where eleven students reside in single, double and triple-occupancy rooms and share a dedication to an environmentally, socially, and fiscally sustainable lifestyle. An application and interview process takes place in February for the upcoming academic year.
College Apartments (606 and 608 Ridge Road)
College Apartments provide a more independent living environment for upper-class students while retaining campus connections. Fourteen three-person apartments are available by application.There are no kitchens in these units, so a full board plan is required.
Clusters and Suites (Farwell, Dieseth, Miller, and Olson Halls)
The cluster and suite draw is designed to give upper-class students an opportunity to live with a group of their peers in rooms adjacent to each other located in Farwell Hall, Dieseth Hall, Miller Hall, or Olson Hall.
Dieseth and Miller Suites:
There are approximately 20 female and 17 male single rooms in Farwell and Larsen. This does not include single rooms in Baker Village, the Farwell co-ed eight-single-room cluster, or any of the college-owned houses.
Double and triple rooms:
Double rooms are available in Baker Village, College Apartments with kitchens, Dieseth, Farwell, Larsen, Miller and Olson halls. There are triple rooms in College Apartments (without kitchens), and all college-owned houses.
Luther College is a residential college; students should plan to live on campus for the entire time they are enrolled as a student. College policy states: “All students are required to live in college-owned housing unless married, 23 years of age, or commuting from their legal guardians’ homes.” Luther College recognizes some seniors desire to live off campus so a limited number of students are approved through an application process in March of their junior year. The final number of students approved is based on enrollment projections for the upcoming fall semester.
Married Student and Family Apartments (604 Ridge Road)
Housing for married students and students with children is available in College Apartments at 604 Ridge Road. There are a limited number of one and two-bedroom apartments which are assigned through the Residence Life office on a space-available basis. Priority is given to returning residents that are married and/or have children. Married students and students with children are not permitted to live in any other housing on campus Contact the Residence Life office to request an apartment.
