Room Draw Dates

General Information

Please read the information below carefully to note application dates, deadlines, etc.; students are responsible for the information below. Detailed descriptions of each housing option can be found in the Room Draw Information Book and on the Residence Life web page.

Some important notes regarding room draw:

  • The process to apply for rooms during Phase One is done several ways: online, on the Residence Life web page, OR by submitting a paper application; please note the specific application instructions below.
  • You may include your name on only one housing application at a time.
  • If you successfully draw into a room, you may not apply for any other housing.
  • Room draw numbers are assigned based on the number of credits a student has completed.

Information Sessions

You are encouraged to attend one of the following information sessions:

  • February 6 Farwell Lounge at 9:00 pm
  • February 9 Brunsdale Lounge at 9:00 pm
  • April 8 Brunsdale Lounge at 8:00 pm
  • April 10 Ylvisaker at 7:00 pm, Brandt at 8:00 pm, and Olson at 9:00 pm

Phase One

Baker Village (eighteen townhouses)

  • January 31 Students who have completed a minimum of 72 credits by the end of fall 2013 receive an email with instructions about the online application process
  • February 12 Groups of 6 formed online by 4:00 pm
  • February 14 Groups ranked by credit average and posted in the Residence Life office at noon
  • February 18 Townhouse and room selection online (times beginning at 5:30 pm)

Prairie Houses (three houses)

  • February 14 Students who have completed a minimum of 72 credits by the end of fall 2013 and did not draw into Baker Village receive an email with instructions about the online application process
  • February 21 Groups of 7 formed online by 4:00 pm
  • February 25 Groups ranked by credit average and posted in the Residence Life office at noon; house and room selection online (times beginning at 5:30 pm)

College Apartments with kitchens (six apartments)

  • February 25 Students who have completed a minimum of 72 credits by the end of fall 2013 and did not draw into Baker Village or Prairie Houses receive an email with instructions about the online application process
  • February 28 Groups of 2 formed online by 4:00 pm
  • March 4 Groups ranked by credit average and posted in the Residence Life office at noon; apartment selection online (times beginning at 5:30 pm)

Sustainability House (co-ed)

  • January 31 General information and applications available on the Residence Life web page
  • February 21 Individual applications or group applications of two, three, or four students submitted through the Residence Life webpage by 4:00 pm
  • February 28 Nine residents selected, names posted in the Residence Life office at noon; students selected will be notified of the room selection time

Farwell eight single room cluster (co-ed)

  • January 31 General information and applications available on the Residence Life webpage
  • February 21 Individual applications submitted through the Residence Life webpage by 4:00 pm
  • February 28 Eight residents selected, names posted in the Residence Life office at noon; room selection in the Residence Life office at 4:00 pm

Norby Global House (co-ed)

  • January 31 General information and applications available on the Residence Life web page and in the Residence Life office
  • February 21 Applications due in the Residence Life office by 4:00 pm
  • February 28 Groups ranked and posted in the Residence Life office at noon; room selection in the Residence Life office at 4:00 pm

Off-campus

  • January 31 General information and applications available on the Residence Life web page and in the Residence Life office
  • March 14 Applications due in the Residence Life office by 4:00 pm
  • March 20 Approvals posted in the Residence Life office at noon

Special Accommodations

  • March 1 Documentation for off-campus special accommodations requests due in the Disability Services office by 4:00 pm
  • April 1 Documentation for on-campus special accommodations requests due in the Disability Services office by 4:00 pm

Phase Two

  • April 1 $300.00 continuing enrollment deposit due in Office for Financial Services by 4:00 pm (deposit required to participate in room draw)
  • April 1 Farwell clusters, Olson, Miller and Dieseth suites, and three-person apartment applications available in the Residence Life office and on the webpage
  • April 4 Room draw cards mailed to SPOs

April 15-16-22-23-24

Registration for fall 2014 classes (Registration required to participate in room draw)

  • April 13 Need a roommate? Informal gathering for students looking for roommates in Brunsdale Lounge at 9:00 pm
  • April 25 Cluster, suite, and triple-occupancy apartment applications due in the Residence Life office by noon
  • April 28 Cluster, suite, and triple-occupancy apartment rankings posted in the Residence Life office at 3:00 p.m.
  • April 29 Cluster, suite, and triple-occupancy apartment selection in Mott/Borlaug at 5:00 pm
  • April 29 Single room selection in Mott/Borlaug at 6:00 pm
  • April 29 Triple room selection in Mott/Borlaug at 6:30 pm
  • April 30 Room draw for double rooms with draw number averages 1 through 500 (seating outside of Oneota Market) beginning at 6:00 pm
  • May 1 Room draw for double rooms with draw number averages 501 and above (seating outside of Oneota Market) beginning at 6:00 pm
