Canoeing and Kayaking

Recreational Services offers free, weekly canoe outings on the Upper Iowa River. Transportation and canoes/kayaks are provided. The approximately 1–1.5 hour float is meant to be an short, easy way for getting as many people on the river as possible. We will start at the Pole Line Rd./Bluffton Rd. bridge and end at Luther College. Whether you are experienced or not at canoeing, we invite you to join us. A Recreational Services employee will canoe along with the group. We have trips every Saturday afternoon until October 6th.

Dates: September 13th; September 20th; September 26 (family weekend canoe—full) September 27 (family weekend—full); October 4th, Oct. 18 (weather permitting)

Canoe & Kayak Checkouts

Luther students can check out any of the five canoes and eight kayaks owned by Luther for free! Luther employees can check out equipment for just $10.00 a day per kayak/canoe. Discounts are applied for both extended checkouts and larger quantities of equipment. We even have a trailer that you can use to transport them if you have a vehicle with a 2-inch ball hitch. Luther students have priority usage of the equipment. Go to the Recreational Services online equipment checkout form to reserve them.
