Jon and Eileen Summers were on campus April 12-16. On Thursday, April 15, at 7:00 p.m. in Valders 206, Jon gave a lecture entitled "Afghanistan--The Limits of Power."
Psychotherapist Eileen Summers spoke to multiple classes during their visit.
Nathan Lein (Luther ’98), Assistant County Prosecutor to Fayette County, Larry Murphy, Mayor of Oelwein & Dr. Clay Hallberg, Family Practitioner in Oelwein presented “The Social and Economic Costs of Methamphetamine Use: Lessons from Oelwein, Iowa” on Thursday, October 22. All three were featured protagonists in journalist Nick Reding’s 2009 book, Methland.
Robert Benne presented "Two Cheers (and some Second Thoughts) for Capitalism" on Tuesday, November 3, 7:00 p.m. Dr. Benne is director of the Center for Religion and Society at Roanoke College.
Anil Singh-Molares, Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow, spoke at Luther College on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Singh-Molares founded and serves as CEO of EchoMundi LLC, a rapidly growing international services firm that helps corporations do business abroad.
Iowa Supreme Court Justice Mark Cady talked about the recent Iowa Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage on Tuesday, October 27, 7:30 p.m.
Paul Solman, business and economics correspondent for the PBS Television program “The News Hour with Jim Lehrer,” presented “The Two Faces of Capitalism: Why We Love and Hate the So Called Free Market,” on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall.
