Parmenter to join Luther faculty

Chad Parmenter will join the Luther College faculty in August as a visiting professor in the English department.
Parmenter previously taught at Southern Illinois University from 2003-05 and the University of Missouri from 2006-2011.
He served as director of the Saluki Poetry Project from 2004-05 and assistant director at the Center for Literary Arts from 2007-08.
Parmenter is the author of the chapbook titled "Bat and Man." He has had numerous poems published in journals, including "Batman in Honey B," "I Am Batman" and "Notes for a Comic Book" in Another Chicago Magazine, and a portion of his book manuscript, "Vivienne's Recovery," published by AGNI Online.
Parmenter has presented his work at several conferences and meetings, including the T.S. Eliot Society Meeting, American Comparative Literature Association Conference and Associated Writing Programs Conference.
He has received several awards and recognitions for his work, including the Creative Writing Fellowship from the University of Missouri, Irish Studies Fellowship and Jacob K. Javits Fellowship from Southern Illinois University, and the Fathman Award for Outstanding Graduate Student Paper from the T.S. Eliot Society.
He received national recognition as the recipient of the Poetry Prize at the 2005 Hotel Amerika Poetry Contest and in 2008 at the Black Warrior Review Third Ever Poetry Contest.
Parmenter holds the bachelor's degree form the University of Central Missouri, the master's degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and the doctoral degree from the University of Missouri.
