Kephart's Music Centers will be honored with induction into the Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association Hall of Fame Labor Day weekend. Sons Rusty Kephart, Jr. '75 and Jim Kephart '87 manage the family business along with Jim's wife Ann (Tjostem) Kephart '90. Owner Rusty Kephart, Sr. passed away in 2011.

Aaron Lurth '08, is a part of the University of Iowa Photography Master of Fine Arts program's exhibition "In Light of Absence." Lurth's project, "Parking," inspects the fragility of modern society through his photographs of parking ramps by night. Luther Professor Phillip Freeman wrote an op-ed piece titled "Friends, Romans, voters" for the Los Angeles Times. His essay illustrates how Roman author Quintus Cicero's guide for winning elections, written 2,000 years ago, applies to modern day politicians. Carson Ode '63, is the author of "IOWA Spaces, Places, Faces." The book highlights the experiences of Carson and Connie Ode as they spent 2008 exploring the state county by county. Ode describes the terrain, the four seasons, the people and the basic history of Iowa. The book is filled with color photos and humorous anecdotes.
