|Date:||Monday, March 14, 2011|
|Location:||Center for Faith and Life—Recital Hall|
Jessica Paul, Luther professor of music, will host the spring "Art Song Jamboree" performance March 14 at 5:15 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life recital hall.
The performance is open to the public with no charge for admission.
The Art Song Jamboree is in its fifth year. The series is dedicated to the exploration of art songs by women composers of the past and present.
Performers in each "jam" program are a mix of musicians from the Luther music faculty and vocal students under the direction of Paul. Paul selects the music and coaches the student participants in their preparation.
Art Song Jamboree will include music by Lora Aborn, Nancy Bloomer Deussen, Margaret Bonds, Abbie Betinis, Elizabeth Vercoe, Emma Lou Diemer and Betty Jackson King.
The program will feature student performers including sopranos Erin Brown, MacKenzie Kloempken, Aliyah Richling and Laura Schultz; mezzo-sopranos Haley Gibbons and Kelley Kussmann; baritones Chad Sonka and Drew Wojcichowski; and bass baritones Alex Redding and Matthew Stump.
Guest soprano Rachel Storlie, Luther class of 2010, and Paul, piano, are also featured in the progam.
