November 13, 2013 Update
On Thursday, Nov. 7, the Presidential Search Committee invited the Luther campus community to gather together in the Center for Faith and Life for conversation and reflection as we continue our search efforts to call Luther's 10th President. The objective was to share lessons learned from the previous search, insights into the evolving external search environment, and transparency into the resulting changes to our search process going forward. Specifically, our process has been modified to address the need for more recruitment in order to broaden and deepen the pool with talented individuals who may not necessarily be actively seeking a new position. We also reviewed the need for greater confidentiality and sensitivity in light of this new pool of candidates, who may be interested, but unwilling to participate in a traditional public search process.
In the subsequent Q & A, we heard questions on a variety of topics, including the diversity of the candidate pool, the challenges of a redesigned search of this nature, and our identity as a College of the Church. The committee appreciated this opportunity to engage directly with the campus community and hear questions and concerns firsthand.
The search committee met immediately following the all-campus conversation to discuss and address the issues that were raised. If there are any further comments, questions or concerns, we encourage you to get in touch with any member of the committee, or to e-mail the committee directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Again thank you for your continued encouragement, engagement and support as we work together to call Luther's 10th President. Soli Deo Gloria!
October 21, 2013 Update
Members of the Luther College family:
The Presidential Search Committee met on campus on October 15, 2013. During this meeting, we welcomed new committee members Wendy Davidson, Wanda Deifelt, Paul Esker, John Moeller, and Jon Stellmacher. Further, we began to review the developing candidate pool, and discussed plans for the next stages of the search process.
The committee continues to partner with AGB Search, and, together, we have begun conversations with individuals who have either been nominated or have expressed an interest in serving as the next president of Luther College. While the review of prospective candidates is in its early stages, we are confident that we will find a dynamic leader who feels called to serve as Luther’s 10th president.
The search process will continue to evolve over the next few months. We are currently planning a campus-wide forum to engage faculty, staff, and students in discussions about the developing search process. At the same time, the committee continues our review of potential candidates, and we welcome further nominations.
We continue to ask for your prayers and support throughout this important process. As always, please contact us if you have questions or concerns.
