Courses
Luther offers courses that focus on legal issues in a number of departments, each applying different area of interest and perspective through which to understand the legal system. Past course offerings include: Law and the American Legal System, Constitutional Law, Civil Rights and Liberties, Business Law, Environmental Law, and Law and Economics.
While each of these courses explicitly examines the law's relation to the world, the central goal of each course is not to memorize current legal code, but rather to critically consider the consequences of using the law to intervene in public and private life. Instead of merely learning the limits of the law, students weigh and consider the ethical role of legal intervention as they examine it through economic, political, and environmental lenses.
